Two Years of Notes, Strings, and Growth

Two years of daily videos: growth, Pizzicato, and Dreampack. A path still far from halfway, but one that keeps swinging with jazz.

Two Years of Notes, Strings, and Growth

What Can Happen in Two Years

A lot can be built in two years. The Eiffel Tower rose over Paris in just two years. The Pantheon of Rome, under Emperor Hadrian, was completed in the same span. The Pentagon was constructed in two years during World War II. Even conflicts, like the Finnish Civil War (1918–1920), reshaped nations in just two years. And in music, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony took shape across two years of inspiration and struggle.

If entire monuments, wars, and masterpieces can happen in two years, what can a musician do with the same time? On September 6th, 2023, I uploaded my first video. Since then, I haven’t missed a single day. And that choice has shaped my own monument—difficult to see, but surely solid, and one I have slowly and silently built within myself.

Rhythm and Discipline

Discipline was what scared me the most. I never thought I would survive even a single week of consecutive posting—yet two years have flown by. I even celebrated the first anniversary with friends, with a cake, in that familiar place that those who follow me already know: the same place where the strangest ideas were born, including this very project.

I would be lying if I told you it was easy, that there weren’t moments when I would have preferred not to post. And yet, sometimes even a simple groove, or a new piece added to my collection, kept me faithful to the promise. After all, the project isn’t “just play” but Just Double Bass. And so, as long as it was connected to the double bass, to daily practice, and to growth, I published—when I was sick, when I was overwhelmed with commitments, and when I had all the time in the world. When the follower counter didn’t grow and everything seemed useless, and when everyone around me told me to give up.

Growth Beyond the Instrument

Two years of uninterrupted videos didn’t just sharpen my playing; they shaped me. I grew with the instrument, but also beyond it. I built a home for this passion: my website. I started to be recognized, not just as someone who plays, but as someone who lives the double bass, every day, like a heartbeat.

I prioritized posting daily over quality, and I know the level wasn’t always the highest. In this third year, my focus is on consistency and, above all, taking the quality of the content to the next level.

In these two years, I have surely become a better double bassist, but not yet the one I want to be. I need much more time. Still, I have achieved two great goals: the creation of this blog, Pizzicato, and an even greater milestone that I presented just two days ago—Dreampack, a virtual backpack full of useful tools for musicians, designed to finally make traveling light possible.

Consistency and Freedom

Jazz has always taught us that consistency and freedom go hand in hand. The discipline of showing up every day, and the freedom to improvise with each note, are not opposites—they’re partners. After two years, I can say that this balance has been the true gift.

A Long Journey Ahead

Here’s to the past two years, and to all the music still waiting ahead. These two years have only consolidated a path that is still far from the halfway point, but one that will continue without hesitation or discouragement. Because just like in jazz, the story is never finished—it keeps swinging.
